The SBITOP index, which tracks the largest publicly listed Slovenian companies, reached an intraday high of 3,014.02 points on February 17, marking a historic milestone for the Ljubljana Stock Exchange.
At Wednesday’s close, the index stood at 2,997.15 points, up 0.40% on the day and representing an all-time closing high. Over the past month, SBITOP has gained 10.83%, while over the past five years it has more than tripled in value.
Several leading Slovenian companies reached record levels during the session. Shares of pharmaceutical producer Krka exceeded EUR 250 for the first time. Nova Ljubljanska Banka, insurer Zavarovalnica Triglav and reinsurer Sava Re also traded near or at historic highs.
The SBITOP total return index, which includes dividends, rose by 54% year-on-year, reflecting not only price appreciation but also attractive dividend policies among listed companies.
Market participants attribute the strong upward trend to solid corporate fundamentals, resilient profitability and stable dividend distributions. The upcoming introduction of investment accounts, offering tax benefits for investors on the Ljubljana Stock Exchange, is expected to provide additional support to market activity.
The milestone reinforces Slovenia’s growing visibility as a stable and increasingly dynamic capital market within the region.
